The Cost of a Peach

One evening, a woman noticed a volunteer tending a small orchard next to a neighborhood school. She crossed the street and asked a simple question:

“How much do the peaches cost?”

The answer? They’re free. And she was welcome to take some home.

Word spread quickly. Soon, a dozen neighbors had gathered, sharing stories about how much they loved fresh peaches and what they planned to make with them.

That evening, they left with 18 pounds of fresh fruit.

In a neighborhood where the only full-size grocery store closed years ago, those peaches meant something. And with nearly 99% of students at the neighboring school qualifying for free school meals, access to fresh food matters.

That is what a little orchard can do. And it’s what your generosity makes possible.
