1. Grow a strong national network of community orchards

We will strengthen and thoughtfully expand our national network, investing in the affiliates and local leaders already doing this work while welcoming new communities with strong local interest and capacity.

By growing and strengthening the network, we will:

• Bring community orchards and free, locally grown food within walking distance of more people

• Strengthen local leadership, orchard stewardship and affiliate capacity

• Expand the knowledge and expertise shared across communities and growing regions

• Thoughtfully grow toward 25 active affiliates by 2030, expanding the number of community orchards and people within walking distance of them.

2. Advance community orcharding as part of thriving cities

We will use the knowledge and experience of our national network to strengthen the field of community orcharding and demonstrate the value of these long-lived neighborhood assets.

By building evidence and sharing what we learn, we will:

• Create and share research, data, case studies, tools and practical resources

• Bring community-orchard expertise into conversations about food systems, urban forestry, public health and community development

• Help demonstrate how community orchards can be incorporated into municipal planning, policy, and public investment
