This introductory workshop will guide community orchardists through the essentials of growing Asian pears in shared orchard settings. Led by Matt Bunch of Kansas City Community Gardens, the session will cover recommended cultivars, common pests and diseases, and key maintenance strategies—including pruning, fertility, and cultural practices that support long-term tree health and fruit quality. Designed for stewards new to Asian pears, the workshop emphasizes practical, field-tested approaches that fit the scale and capacity of community orchards.
