Integrated Pest Management (IPM) doesn’t have to be complicated. This one-hour, beginner-friendly workshop introduces community orchard stewards to the basics of IPM with a focus on practical, low-stress approaches that work in shared, public orchard spaces. We’ll walk through how to observe and identify common orchard pests and diseases, understand when action is actually needed, and prioritize prevention over reaction.
Participants will learn how to use simple IPM tools like regular monitoring, cultural practices, and biological controls to keep trees healthy while minimizing chemical inputs. The workshop will also cover how to make thoughtful management decisions in community settings—balancing tree health, fruit quality, volunteer capacity, and public expectations. Stewards will leave with a clear IPM framework, confidence in decision-making, and next steps they can apply right away in their orchards.
